My heart is full of gratitude sharing this. It’s my hope that this also serves as a dose of encouragement to you friends that are small business owners too!
When the New Year came and I stood at the threshold of 2019 brainstorming goals for my business. Some I set to be reached in a few weeks, some within a month, and then there are goals I set to be reached during the span of the year. I have found that no matter how small a goal seems, writing them down and steadily working towards them increases the chance of them coming to fruition. Making goals has been essential for me because it has also documented my journey. It’s easy to forget how far this journey has taken me, how much my work has evolved, how I have grown.
My major aspiration was to have my work published. I full heartily expected a scenario quite like J.K. Rowling’s when she first began submitting her Harry Potter series to publishers…. Rejection after rejection. Seriously! I remember sitting, staring at my computer screen shrugging my shoulders at the thought of rejection and said you know what? “I have to get my feet wet sometime!” Having this in mind, I figured I would start submitting my work to blogs and magazines I considered “top notch” and at the top of my list was Tidewater & Tulle.
I couldn’t believe that the very first time I submitted I was accepted. The very first time? When does that happen? It was a complete shock because I wasn’t expecting ANYTHING, not even an email saying I WAS rejected lol. Undeniably, I am sure the editors see so any submissions. So when the editor reached out letting me know my submission was accepted, and the date it would published, my heart exploded.
I want to share this as encouragement guys… no matter where you are in your business…whether it’s 1 year, 10 years, or 30 years…never forget your roots of what cultivated you to do what you do. And no matter how far you’ve come, always strive toward goals, and BE YOU! I always tell people I have adopted “Yoga with Adrienne’s” motto on YouTube, “Find what feels good”! Never forget the impact you have on people!
Thank you Tidewater & Tulle and Chelsea Lavere & the Editorial Team for featuring such a sweet couple (your article was written far more eloquently than I could have ever composed)! And thank you for unknowingly making one of my greatest aspirations come to fruition.
