Cure for the Cubicle-Cabin Fever | Shenandoah River Outfitters | Family Vacation in Luray Virginia | Sarah Duke Photography

Shenandoah National Outfitters & Luray Caverns in Virginia| Sarah Duke Photography

My mind can't help but sing the famous line from John Denver's song, "Country roaddsss take me homeee to the placeeeee I belonnggggggg, West Virginiaa...." as I look at these amazing images from our recent trip to the mountains.

Tylor and I have been long overdue for a vacation, or at least a getaway! And I was definitely experiencing the "cabin fever" phenomena sitting in my cubicle at work. (It's ironic that planning a trip TO A CABIN would cure this lol). It was the first for me going to Shenandoah Mountains and seeing the beautiful Luray Caverns. Our adventure wouldn't have been complete without bringing Duke, who loved swimming and retrieving (and eating hot dogs at the campfire haha).

We stayed at Shenandoah National Outfitter's Line Cabin which exceeded my expectations and original vision I had when dreaming of taking a "mountain adventure". The loft was super cute on the inside and the view was spectacular. Our deck overlooked an expansive field, stunning foliage, and Shenandoah River. It couldn't have been more perfect. The mornings were beautiful...I woke up early on the second day to find a peaceful fog covering the field below and to my surprise a baby buck! And in the evenings we enjoyed toasty campfires and roasting steak and bell pepper skewers. I also loved that the cabin was about 10 minuets from the little town of Luray - which we essentially explored every nook and crannie of.

We tried Uncle Buck's restaurant for breakfast on E. Main Street and explored the cute surrounding shops and cafes like The Gathering Grounds. Saturday afternoon we spent most of the time at Luray Caverns (it was amazingggg!!!) and afterward walked through the antique automotive museum which was really neat. At night, we ate at the Speakeasy Restaurant connected to the stunning Mimslyn Inn (which I also discovered is a wedding venue).

I am thankful to be able to take little adventures like this every now and again and most thankful for the memories made together with family. <3 Enjoy the spectacular views,
