Not many couples can say that bacon brought them together. Or rather, that bacon was the initial icebreaker between them.

"We first met each other at work" Crystal explained. "Since I bought it almost every day and he was the meat department manager, it only seemed fitting" Crystal jokingly explained. This simple exchange would lead to their first date at Applebee's which Crystal recalls as a day she will always remember,

"We talked about everything - and also some of the weirdest, but funniest topics....we still look back on this day and laugh."

David's fun-loving personality during a game of reverse charades would eventually play an important factor in his surprise proposal to Crystal:

"We were at his best friends Christmas party playing a game of reverse charades when EVERYONE had me guessing what David was doing." Crystal laughed, "I was guessing all sorts of things and then he got down on one knee and I guessed 'proposal' even though that wasn’t even the word on the card. Before I knew it, David was on one knee asking me to marry him!"

While it's easy to see that both Crystal and David are so down to earth and very easy going, underneath their playful exteriors are two people whose hearts overflow with consideration and compassion. In fact, what made their wedding unique was that all the details came together effortlessly and the reason for this was because they were purposeful about incorporating each-other in all the decision making (even down to their wedding colors)! "We decided on the colors malibu and lilac because, David's favorite color is blue and mine is purple. " When I asked them what wedding planning advice they would like to share with other couples planning their big day it was,

"Listen to each other. Hear what the other person would like to incorporate. It makes things so much easier and more special when all the details come together".

Such a simple concept - yet so vital even in the foundation of marriage! Truly, Crystal and David exemplify the joy and fluidity that every wedding day celebration should involve.

Even though they planned together - Crystal had a few surprise elements of her own! Not only was April 28, 2019 their wedding day - but it was also the grooms birthday! It was fun to see Crystal strategically planning a mini-birthday celebration for David: where a birthday cake was brought out to him during the reception, and everyone joined in singing the HAPPY BIRTHDAY song.

Above all however, Crystal and David expressed anticipating exchanging their vows and finally saying, "I do" to each other. Their ceremony incorporated a sand glass unity pouring, prayer and blessing by the groom's brother, and scripture reading from the bride's sister.

Fun Fact: Crystal's necklace held more meaning than just "something blue". David gifted her the royal blue heart necklace as a remembrance of how they first began exchanging sentiments:

"instead of saying 'I love you' when we first started dating, we would say, I heart you." A simple expression that would make this statement piece so special.
